Terms of Service

These Terms govern your use of the ShutterLine website, mobile applications, and connected-camera services (the "Service"). By creating an account you agree to these Terms.
1. The Service
ShutterLine provides software and an optional subscription that connects camera hardware in your home ("your Equipment") to your devices over the internet. Your Equipment and any video it records belong to you. The subscription provides remote access and account features; core local functionality does not require a subscription.
2. Accounts
You must provide a valid email and keep your password confidential. You are responsible for activity under your account. You must be at least 18 years old to create an account.
3. Acceptable use
Use the Service only for lawful monitoring of property you own or control, in compliance with all applicable laws — including laws on video/audio recording, consent, and the privacy of others. Do not attempt to access another user's devices, probe or disrupt the Service, or resell it without written consent.
4. Subscriptions & billing
Paid plans are billed monthly in advance through our payment processor. Prices are stated before checkout; taxes may apply. Cancel at any time via Account → Cancel subscription; cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period. See our Returns & Refunds Policy.
5. Not a life-safety service
The Service is not an emergency, life-safety, or alarm-monitoring service. It does not contact police, fire, or medical services. Video, detections, and notifications depend on your internet connection, power, Wi-Fi, and third-party networks, and may be delayed or unavailable. Do not rely on the Service as your sole means of securing people or property.
6. Your content
Video captured by your Equipment is yours. We do not store your video on our servers; remote streams pass through the Service transiently and encrypted. You are responsible for the content your cameras capture and how you use and share it.
7. Intellectual property
We retain all rights in the Service's software, branding, and content. We grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to use the software with your Equipment for personal, non-commercial use.
8. Termination
You may stop using the Service and delete your account at any time. We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms. Local functionality of your Equipment is unaffected by termination of the online Service.
9. Disclaimers
THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED. WE DO NOT WARRANT UNINTERRUPTED OR ERROR-FREE OPERATION.
10. Limitation of liability
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, ShutterLine SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES. OUR AGGREGATE LIABILITY SHALL NOT EXCEED THE AMOUNT YOU PAID US IN THE TWELVE MONTHS PRECEDING THE CLAIM.
11. Changes
We may update these Terms. Material changes will be communicated via email or a notice on the Service. Continued use after changes constitutes acceptance.
